Can You Use Klarna on Amazon?
While Klarna isn’t listed as a valid payment method on Amazon, you can still use it to pay for items at the retailer, splitting the cost into three or four interest-free instalments, depending on the service offered in your region, or deferring the payment for thirty days, as you would at any supported merchant.
You’ll need to use Klarna’s one-time card feature to pay using Klarna on Amazon. Fortunately, this couldn’t be easier. It’s as simple as opening the Klarna application, selecting Amazon from the merchant list, adding items to your cart, then clicking the Pay button at the bottom to create a one-time card and initiate the transaction.
It’s here that you will choose the terms of the financing: Three or four interest-free instalments — which can be repaid early — or settling the balance in full after thirty days, so you can try before you buy, depending on the options available to you based on the services offered in your location and your credit and borrowing history.
There’s no restrictions on the categories that can be financed through Klarna on Amazon. The loan is based on the value of your cart, and not the items in it. You just need to let Klarna know the value needed when creating a one-time card, then provided you’re approved for the credit line, it’ll handle the rest.
The standard $10 minimum transaction value still rings true here, though, and (again, depending on where you’re purchasing from in the world) you may also be eligible to finance larger purchases of up to $10,000 over a longer period of time. You’ll be asked how you want to repay the balance when creating the one-time card.
Finally, refunds are handled in the same way as any transaction placed through Klarna, regardless of whether you’re using a one-time card on Amazon or a direct checkout at a retailer like Bed Bath & Beyond and Gamestop in the US. If you’ve returned everything in the order, the balance will be refunded to the original payment method.
Partial refunds will be deducted from the outstanding balance and spread evenly across the remaining payments. So if you have two payments of $10 outstanding and return an item worth $10, the two payments will be reduced to $5 as the total value of the loan decreases. If no additional payments are due, a refund will be issued.
You can use Klarna with Amazon in any region where it’s available. This includes Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Best of all, your Klarna order will be shipped after the first payment has been made at the time the order is placed, so you could even receive it the same day in some cases.
