Does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Have an IR Blaster?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 doesn’t have an IR blaster.

We can’t say we’re surprised, though: Samsung’s standard flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S21, doesn’t feature an IR blaster either. In fact, the last major Samsung device to have an IR blaster on board was the Samsung Galaxy S6 in 2015. Meanwhile, the rival Huawei Mate Xs does have an IR blaster.

Announced in August 2021, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is one of the latest handsets in the company’s foldable line up, sitting alongside the clamshell Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, which launched at the same time. Both are recognized for being the first water-resistant foldable smartphones to launch on the mass market.

Without sounding too cliched, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the most advanced foldable device Samsung has released to date, featuring a 7.6-inch Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2 screen with a resolution of 1768 x 2208 pixels and a 6.2-inch cover screen with a resolution of 832 x 2268 pixels.

It’s available in two configurations: One with 256GB of internal storage, and the other with 512GB. Both have 12GB of RAM,  the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G CPU, a tri-camera on the rear (12MP wide, 12MP telephoto, and 12MP ultra-wide), and a 4MP under-screen camera and a 10MP front-facing cover camera.

The handset also has a 4400mAh battery, which supports 25W Fast Charging, 11W Fast Wireless Charging, and 4.5W Reverse Wireless Charging, and has a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 can be used with Samsung’s S Pen stylus (sold separately) and has face recognition on board as well.

Pricing starts at $1800.
