Can You Use Zilch at Asda?
You can use Zilch at Asda. In fact, you can use the service — which lets you split purchases into four interest-free instalments, or earn 2% cashback on transactions paid in full — at any retailer that accepts MasterCard. This can be done in-store with Apple Pay or Google Pay and online with a virtual card number that can be created and accessed through the Zilch application for Android and iOS.
How to Use Zilch at Asda
The easiest way to use Zilch at Asda is with Apple Pay or Google Pay. To do this, set up Zilch Anywhere in the mobile application. You’ll find that Zilch now defaults to Pay in 1, which lets customers process their payment through the service in exchange for 2% cashback. But this doesn’t let you split the cost. So head into the Settings screen and choose Apple Pay Default or Google Pay Default, depending on the device you’re using, and set it to Pay in 4.
Keep in mind that all transactions processed through Pay in 4 will be deducted from your Zilch Credit Limit, so you’ll want to ensure you have enough money available before checking out — by default, anything spent over your limited will be billed at checkout. So if you’re spending £100, but only have £25 worth of credit available, your debit card on file will be charged £81.25 immediately. This feature is called Zilch Boost, and can be turned off.
Once that’s all set up, you can use Zilch at Asda using Apple Pay or Google Pay. There are no additional fees for using Zilch in a retail store, and you don’t need to let the cashier know that’s how you’re paying. The process is exactly the same as paying with a standard debit or credit card using Apple Pay or Google Pay — tap and go. But remember: You’ll need to have enough money on your debit card to cover the first instalment or it’ll be declined.
Your other option is to create a virtual card using the Zilch application to shop at Asda online. To do this, select the merchant or enter the website domain and then choose how you want to pay (either Pay in 1 or Pay in 4). You’ll then be presented with a virtual card that you can use when you reach checkout. You’ll need to use this long card number, expiry date and security code at the checkout page when you’re ready.
